URBAN VALLEY
This project is part of my thesis, though in this portfolio, I focus specifically on the transformation of the old swimming hall, which is at the heart of the Youth Campus. The Youth Club, located in the former swimming hall, is a unique space designed to foster openness, creativity, and a sense of community. The concept combines flexible design with multifunctional spaces, all tailored to meet the needs of young people. The goal is not just to offer a variety of activities, but also to create a place that the youth can truly make their own— whether it’s for projects, engaging in programs, or simply hanging out with friends. The design of the space draws inspiration from the building’s history, reimagining it for contemporary use. The central area has transformed into a vibrant hub for creativity, relaxation, gatherings, and performances. Where the swimming pool once stood, a striking staircase now leads to the lower level, where a stage is in clear view. A sunken courtyard bridges the indoor and outdoor spaces, bringing natural light into the building and creating a welcoming transition zone that strikes a balance between privacy and openness. The building expansion also includes two additional sports halls, which extend the range of activities and encourage engagement with the surrounding community. The interior is full of corridors, nooks, and open spaces, intentionally left undefined to allow for creative use and personal expression. The youth club becomes a lively and evolving space that connects young people with one another and the wider public.
